I love November, the holidays are right around the corner, you get to spend time with family, overall it’s a great month. I got most of my Christmas shopping done during Black Friday, and even picked up some stuff for my self! I also had an outstanding month for dividends!

Last year in November I only had $36.62 in dividends. This year I had over $151.32! That is an increase of 413%! Although without the dividends from the bond ETFs I only had $134.75. Nonetheless that’s a 368% increase YoY. Additionally, the massive increase comes from rebalancing my portfolio and having some dividend payable dates shift to other month. Either way, I see it as fantastic growth. The dividends broke out as follows.

Dividends & Shares Received from DRIPing

  • ILTB – $15.61
  • LQD – $0.96
  • HRL – $17.92 – 0.552 Shares
  • MAIN – $5.73 – .141 Shares
  • PBCT – $43.73 – 2.44 Shares
  • OHI – $67.42 – 2.469 shares

Dividend Increases

  • ENR raised their dividend from $0.275 to $0.29.   That is a 5.5% increase and adds $1.44 to my PADI.
  • HRL raised their dividend from $0.17 to $0.1875. That is a 10.3% increase and adds $7.42 to my PADI.
  • TPB started their dividend, raising it from $0 to $0.04. This adds $16 to my PADI.

I sold a few positions recently, which were the following.

  • ILTB
  • HTM
  • WDFC

I decided to sell my bond ETF (ILTB) because I found a great purchase opportunity in NWL and VZ. I also decided to sell HTM because at the time I made the investment I thought it was a good long-term play, but after reevaluting the company I decided to exit my position. For the time being I think I will build a small position in my Robinhood account. Finally, I decided to sell WDFC. While I believe WD-40 is an incredible product, with strong brand identity, I felt that the company was too expensive, and I haven’t seen them growing as much as I‘d like to.

  • NWL
  • VZ
  • KMB
  • TPB

I contributed around $202, and received $0.83 in dividends. This brings my portfolio value to $2549!

I had a big month Contributed $712 to Robinhood. Throughout the month I made the following purchases

  • CHD – 1
  • HBI – 6
  • CLDR – 13
  • HTM – 4
  • TAP – 4
  • OZRK – 2
  • BHBK – 4

Last but not least, I maxed out my Roth IRA for the year! I was so glad to do it ahead of schedule. Originally I had wanted to contribute slowly but after I received a bonus at work I dumped it into my IRA so I was ahead of schedule. I hadn’t contributed for a couple of months within November I decided to max it out

How was your month? Let me know!

    Thanks Bert!

I am definitely proud of such a strong month, even though a lot of the dividends have just been shifted. Either way I love seeing it grow!

Hi CD, nice work maxing out the Roth IRA. Also, just a stellar YoY increase in income – hard to beat that! Good things on the horizon if you continue the excellent progress.

    Thanks ED!

I definitely am proud of maxing out my IRA as I just started working within the past couple of years, and a lot of my coworkers don’t. I look forwarding to maxing out my Roth IRA even earlier in 2018, hopefully by midyear, but we’ll see!
